What's new
October 2026
What changed in Updo in October 2026: what you can now do, what works better and what was fixed.
67 additions, 43 improvements, and 31 fixes
AddedManufacturingShop-floor entries to review
Find the labor entries closed without quantities and settle them, and see who works on what on the shop floor. The work center's supervisor and managers can close an activity left open.
AddedTime clock kioskThe shop-floor kiosk by department
Link a work center to one or more departments: at the kiosk, each employee then sees only the operations of their department's work centers. Without a department, everything stays visible.
AddedAttendancePublic holidays for every province
The statutory holidays of every Canadian province and territory now fill your calendar by themselves for 2026 and 2027, based on your province. Your holiday premiums apply to them.
AddedPayrollPublic holidays are paid as the law requires
Each public holiday is worked out for each employee under their province's law: the pay owed, who is entitled to it, and when it is paid. Salaried staff simply keep their salary.
AddedAttendanceTime off for a public holiday worked
A public holiday worked earns the pay or time off, depending on the law and the employee's written choice. The time off goes into the time bank with its deadline, and the manager is reminded before.
AddedPayrollVacation pay is paid by itself
Payroll pays the accrued vacation pay when vacation is taken, when the employee leaves, and what is left of each year. A salaried employee's salary goes on during vacation.
AddedHRThe departure date on the record
The employee record has a departure date. The last payslip then pays the whole vacation pay balance.
AddedPayrollBanked hours are paid out on payroll
Banked hours are paid out automatically at their legal deadline, when the employee leaves, or on the annual payout date you chose, at the rate in effect on the pay date.
AddedWorkflowsOrganization approvals in the inbox
A new tab gathers the approval requests of your access rules, next to the workflow ones: the record, the requested values, the status and, when it could not be carried out, the reason. Approvers and requesters are notified, each in their own language.
AddedOrganization"Approval required" in access rules
A rule that allows creating, changing or deleting records can require an approval: approver roles, number of approvals and expiry delay.
Show more (131)Show less
AddedWorkflowsAn approval now carries out the requested change
When a rule of your organization requires an approval to create, change or delete a record, the last approval carries out the operation on behalf of the person who asked. If the record changed in the meantime, nothing is written and the reason is shown.
AddedWorkflowsThe record's history names the approvers
A change carried out after an approval shows in the record's history with the names of the people who approved it.
AddedTime clock kioskShop-floor work at the kiosk
At their work centre's kiosk, employees start an operation, pause it during breaks, then finish it by declaring the pieces made and scrapped. The operation adds them up.
AddedTime clock kioskSearch by scanned code
The kiosk finds an operation by its order number and sequence, typed or scanned, ignoring case and spaces.
AddedManufacturingScrap reasons
A list of scrap reasons, asked at the kiosk as soon as a piece is scrapped.
AddedTime clock kioskPrint from the kiosk
The kiosk prints a work order's traveler, an activity's or an operation's report, in the employee's language, and keeps a record of every print.
AddedManufacturingBarcodes on the traveler
Each operation carries its code, printed as a barcode on the traveler: scanning it at the kiosk finds the operation.
AddedTime clock kioskThe kiosk speaks each employee's language
HR sets each employee's language on their record. The punch kiosk then speaks to them in that language, even when they have no account in the app.
AddedTime clock kioskA work centre for each kiosk
In the time clock console, HR records which shop-floor work centre each kiosk stands at.
AddedAttendanceThe 2027 statutory holidays
The 2027 statutory holidays of Quebec and Ontario are added to your calendar by themselves, without replacing the days you entered.
AddedPayrollVacation pay accrues with every pay run
Each approved pay run adds the legal rate of the employee's province to their vacation pay, by length of service. In Quebec and Ontario, the higher rate applies to the whole year in which the threshold is reached.
AddedPayrollPayroll now pays the clocked hours
When payroll is calculated, the hours of approved days are added to the payslip: regular hours at the day's hourly rate, overtime at its premium rate, paid leave. Deductions are computed on that total.
AddedHRHourly rate on the employee record
The record shows whether the employee is salaried or hourly, with their hourly rate and its effective date. Days worked before that date are paid at the previous rate.
AddedPayrollPayroll pays schedule premiums
Night, weekend, Sunday and worked public holiday hours now receive their premium on the payslip, using the most specific rule for the employee, their department or the organization.
AddedAttendanceOverlapping premiums are counted
Classified hours now show, day by day, the hours that carry several premiums at once, such as night and weekend or night and overtime. The totals of each premium do not change.
AddedPlatformA What's new page
The public website now shows, month by month, what was added, improved and fixed in Updo, in English and French.
AddedAttendanceStatutory holidays added for you
The paid statutory holidays set by your province's law are added to your holiday calendar, each with its official source: 8 in Quebec and 9 in Ontario for 2026. Holidays you had already entered stay as they are.
AddedWorkshopGap-free numbering option
In the Atelier, an auto-numbered field can be made gap-free, for your own official documents.
AddedAttendanceTime bank
Overtime can be banked instead of paid, as the organization or the employee chooses, day by day. Each hour is credited at its premium rate (2 h at 1.5 gives 3 h), up to a cap you set.
AddedHRTime bank leave and ledger
A new “Time bank” leave type uses the oldest credits first. A new screen shows the ledger of dated credits and leave taken, and the employee record shows the balance and the dates of the written agreement.
AddedWorkflowsWithdraw your approval request
Whoever made an approval request can withdraw it while it is still pending. The request stays in the history with the status “Withdrawn”, approvers are notified, and an automation can react to it.
AddedWorkflowsApprovers see the proposed values
The approvals inbox shows every field the approval will save, with its value, read-only. A field the approver is not allowed to read stays hidden.
AddedPayrollStatutory overtime rules
Quebec and Ontario statutory overtime rules are now built in: weekly threshold (40 h in Quebec, 44 h in Ontario), premium rate, and whether leave counts toward the threshold. Attendance applies them by each employee's province of work.
AddedAttendanceFirst day of the work week
A new setting chooses the day your organization's work week starts. Weekly overtime and the seventh consecutive day are calculated on that week; by default it still starts on Monday.
AddedAttendanceUnworked holidays count toward the week
Where the law counts leave toward the overtime threshold, as in Quebec, an unworked statutory holiday adds its scheduled hours to the week: an 8-hour holiday plus 40 hours worked gives 8 hours of overtime.
AddedPayrollEmployer contributions in other provinces
Payroll now calculates the British Columbia, Manitoba and Newfoundland and Labrador health taxes, as well as the workers' compensation premium of the other provinces and territories, and posts them to the general ledger.
AddedPayrollUS employer contributions
Payroll now calculates federal unemployment tax (FUTA) and California's training tax, as well as California unemployment insurance at the rate assigned to your company. The FUTA credit reduction is added to the annual return.
AddedAccountingTax accounts by tax code
Each tax code (GST, QST, HST, PST, RST) has its own accounts for tax collected, recoverable and payable, with an effective date. QST is now posted to its own accounts, and tax remittances are made code by code.
AddedTaxesTax registrations
A new screen records, for each jurisdiction, your tax registration status (registered, not registered or flat-rate scheme), cash accounting, the registration number and the effective date. It is also part of the setup guide.
AddedInvoicingLegal notices by type of transaction
A tax code can state the transaction it covers, such as an export or a reverse charge: the invoice then prints the country's official notice or your own text. Some notices are added on their own, for example on an invoice in a foreign currency.
AddedNotificationsNotifications that open the record
Clicking a notification now opens the related record, if you can view it. For approvals, approvers land in their approvals inbox, and requesters on the record, where they see the decision and its comment.
AddedNotificationsSummaries that open the list
A summary notification, such as "12 overdue invoices", now opens the related list, if you can view it. Low bank balance, vehicle registration and driver's license alerts open their record.
AddedAttendanceHours classified by type
Each day, Attendance now classifies every employee's hours: regular, overtime, night, weekend, Sunday, worked statutory holiday and approved leave. Overtime follows the thresholds of the employee's province of work, or else the organization's own.
AddedAttendancePremium rules
A new screen sets night, weekend, Sunday and holiday premiums: a multiplier or an hourly amount, for the organization, a department or an employee. For each pair of premiums, you choose whether they stack or only the more favourable one applies.
AddedAttendanceSchedules that work on holidays
A schedule can now be marked as working on statutory holidays: its shifts are then planned on those days instead of being skipped.
AddedWorkshop“Weekly hours” block
In the Workshop, a new block shows the opening week on any record whose lines hold a day, an opening time and a closing time.
AddedPayrollEmployer contributions in Quebec
The Health Services Fund contribution and the CNESST premium are now calculated every pay run, carried to the Revenu Québec remittance and posted to the general ledger. Without a rate in effect, nothing is guessed: the payroll manager is notified.
AddedPayrollEmployer accounts register
A new register keeps, per program and by date, your account number, rate, reference payroll and any reduction. Payroll applies the line in effect on each pay date.
AddedPayrollAnnual remittance in Quebec
A new annual summary calculates the labour standards contribution, the workforce skills development fund and the Health Services Fund year-end adjustment, one editable line per program. An adjustment can be a credit.
AddedPayrollOntario Employer Health Tax
The Employer Health Tax is now calculated every pay run, at the rate for your payroll bracket, after the annual exemption (which can be shared among associated employers), then adjusted through the annual remittance.
AddedPayrollWSIB premiums
The WSIB premium is now calculated at your rate on each worker's pay, up to the year's maximum insurable earnings, and paid through an agency remittance. The general ledger gains new accounts for these contributions outside Quebec.
AddedWorkflowsMove several steps at once
A record can now go straight to a later state in its workflow, from the Go to… menu or the Kanban board: each step in between is passed with its conditions and approvals, and everything is undone if one of them refuses.
AddedWorkflowsMissing fields asked on the spot
When a state change needs fields that are still empty, a dialog asks for them right from the state button or the Kanban board, then retries the change, without opening the form.
AddedWorkshopNew Time field type
The Workshop data model now offers a Time field, entered and shown in 12- or 24-hour format per your organization's setting, across forms, lists, filters, records and documents. It can default to the current time.
AddedWorkshopNew Site field type
A Site field lets you pick one of your organization's sites. It shows the site's name in lists, records, Kanban boards and documents, and accepts the site code on import.
AddedAttendanceOff-network punches with a reason
Your organization can now let employees punch in from outside its authorized IP addresses by giving a reason, site by site. The day is then flagged for review and can only be approved once HR has checked it.
AddedAttendanceAutomatic shift generation
Assign a work schedule to a department or an employee, then generate all the shifts for a period at once. Public holidays, approved leave and days already scheduled are skipped, and running the same period again never creates duplicates.
AddedAttendanceShift calendar for employees
In their own space, employees see their shifts, approved leave and public holidays in a weekly or monthly calendar.
AddedAccountingPayroll posted by statutory code
With the new payroll accounts by statutory code table, each pay run is posted line by line and the employer share is recorded every pay run instead of at remittance. A code with no account holds the pay run and notifies finance.
AddedPayrollEmployer share in detail
The payslip now shows the employer share contribution by contribution, below earnings and deductions.
AddedPayrollRemittances by agency, line by line
A remittance can now name its agency: it gets one line per deduction and contribution for that agency, drawn from the period's paid pay runs. Lines can be adjusted by hand, and the general ledger posts them one by one.
AddedSalesOrder book
Once turned on in Sales, the order book moves each confirmed order through to delivery: invoice, manufacturing, picking, shipping. Its stage shows on the order and on a new Kanban board that keeps up on its own.
AddedManufacturingManufacturing triggered by orders
When stock doesn't cover a manufactured item, the order book creates a draft manufacturing order for the missing quantity, linked to the sales order, with the item's bill of materials and routing.
AddedWarehouseShip complete or as ready
By default, an order ships complete. A checkbox lets you ship ready items first, and the warehouse can receive one picking task per line before shipping.
AddedInvoicingInvoice at confirmation
Automatic invoicing can now create the invoice the moment an order is confirmed. With the order book on, the order then keeps its stock reservation until the goods leave.
AddedWorkflowsMore informative approvals
In the approvals inbox, each request now links to its record when you're allowed to view it, and can show a summary of what is being asked, in your language.
AddedWorkflowsClear reason when a step is refused
In the Workshop, a workflow transition with a condition can show its own message when the condition isn't met, in the language of the person acting, instead of a generic text.
ImprovedPlatformClearer refusals for integrations
When an integration attempts an action that needs an approval, it now gets a clear refusal that says what to do, instead of an error.
ImprovedTime clock kioskThe kiosk punches from any network
The time clock kiosk no longer needs an allowed network or a location: the paired kiosk, the badge and the PIN are enough. Punches made in the app keep all their rules.
ImprovedTaxesNew tax rates apply by themselves
When a tax rate changes, the old one ends the day before and the new one starts on its date. If you had changed that rate, it stays as it is and you are told.
ImprovedDocumentsBatch documents prepared in the background
Printing or exporting several records at once no longer blocks the screen: the file is prepared in the background and a notification brings it to you. You can now select up to 200 at a time.
ImprovedAutomationRestores and removed links better tracked
Restoring a record from the recycle bin now shows in its history and can trigger your automations. When a deletion removes a link from other records, each one keeps it in its history.
ImprovedAttendanceThe balance follows payouts
When payroll is approved, the paid hours leave the bank, and the history shows why and on which payslip they were paid.
ImprovedPlatformRelease notes that are easier to scan
The What's new page opens the last two months on their count and first ten changes, one line each, to open for the details. Each month has its own page with all its changes, which keeps the main page light.
ImprovedPlatformErrors shown before approval
When an organization rule requires approval to create, edit or delete records, invalid input now shows its error right away instead of creating a request bound to fail.
ImprovedWorkflowsRecycle bin open despite deletion approval
Viewing deleted records and the preview of a deletion no longer require an approval, and a record is restored right away.
ImprovedManufacturingDecimal manufacturing hours
Clocked and actual hours on operations and work orders now accept decimals.
ImprovedPayrollCorrect deductions despite late rules
When only part of the year's rules is published, each deduction applies the latest rule in force, and only the lines concerned are marked "Estimate". The pay run tells you which ones.
ImprovedPayrollEstimates flagged line by line
When some of the year's rules are not published yet, the pay run notice names only the estimated lines instead of calling the whole run an estimate.
ImprovedPlatformReference data updates automatically
New years of public holidays and newly published payroll rules reach your organization with no action on your part. What you entered, changed or deleted stays as it is.
ImprovedListsLighter exports, calculated fields included
CSV and Excel exports of a list are now sent as they are produced instead of being prepared in full first. Calculated fields, which used to come out empty, now carry their value, as on screen.
ImprovedWorkshopFaster sorting and range filters
A field marked "Indexed" in the Atelier makes sorting and "from" or "until" filters on that field instant, even on very large lists.
ImprovedWorkshopThe "Indexed" option explained
The Atelier offers the option only on fields it can speed up, and says why elsewhere, for instance when a text must first declare a maximum length.
ImprovedPlatformMuch faster lists
Lists open almost instantly even with hundreds of thousands of records, and filtering by customer, status or reference no longer slows them down.
ImprovedPlatformRecords save faster
Creating, editing or deleting a record asks less of the server, which speeds up forms, imports and automations.
ImprovedAccountingMuch faster financial statements
Balance sheets and income statements now open in seconds, even with tens of thousands of entries. A line whose amount is not a number is now flagged with a warning instead of skewing the totals.
ImprovedPayrollNo pay run approved without rate
A pay run can no longer be approved while an hourly employee has approved hours without an hourly rate: their name is shown.
ImprovedPayrollPremium stacking is applied
When several premiums fall on the same hour, payroll applies your stacking settings: they add up, or only the more advantageous one is paid. Hours put in the time bank earn no premium.
ImprovedPlatformSimultaneous entries without waiting
Several people can create numbered tickets, customers or orders at the same time without waiting for each other.
ImprovedInvoicingGap-free legal numbers, assigned on issue
Invoices, credit notes, journal entries, notarial minutes and other legal documents stay numbered without gaps; a draft gets its number only when it is issued, and an abandoned draft no longer uses one up.
ImprovedHREmployee document categories
Documents attached to an employee record are now filed under a list of categories: employment contract, ID, time bank agreement or other.
ImprovedWorkflowsNothing is overwritten silently
An approval is refused, and the request stays pending, if a proposed field has changed since the request, if the requester may no longer edit it, or if a linked record was deleted in the meantime.
ImprovedPlatformFaster menus and catalogue
What your organization subscribes to is now checked once per screen instead of once per module: navigation and the catalogue open faster, with exactly the same access.
ImprovedPlatformFaster records and lists
Records, lists and automations now load their configuration once instead of re-reading it at every step. A support ticket's record, for example, makes less than half the reads it used to.
ImprovedPlatformFaster access checks
Each access check now looks only at the rules that concern the requested screen or data: navigation and pages display faster, with exactly the same permissions.
ImprovedPlatformLog retention follows your plan
Automation, webhook delivery and access decision logs are kept as long as your plan guarantees for the audit history, then purged automatically every night.
ImprovedInvoicingAccurate legal notices on invoices
Invoices and credit notes print your country's legal notices, and those tied to registration status only when your current registration calls for them. The footer is your own free text again.
ImprovedWorkflowsChange status without leaving the list
Changing a status in a list or a sub-form now opens a window for any missing fields, then applies the change. Sub-forms can also move through several steps at once, after confirming the path.
ImprovedWorkflowsAI assistant follows workflow steps
The AI assistant also suggests statuses reachable in several steps, names the steps the change goes through and tells you when an approval awaits along the way.
ImprovedWorkflowsAutomations follow your workflows
Automations built by your organization now go through the same steps, conditions and approvals as a person. The status button and the portal also take into account the fields an automation fills in before checking the change.
ImprovedPlatformFaster saves and documents
Saving records, opening the audit log and producing documents now take less work on the server, which makes them faster, especially with large amounts of data.
ImprovedPlatformFairer API quotas
A request refused by a quota no longer uses up your limit, and each quota resets at the start of its period (full hour or minute). The gauge on the Subscription page counts from the start of the hour, and says so.
ImprovedAttendanceConsistent daily overtime
On a day not yet approved, the overtime shown is the classified overtime: HR approves the same figure payroll will read. An approved day no longer changes.
ImprovedAttendanceOpening hours set on a week
An opening-hours calendar now shows its week, day by day. A window lets you switch each day on and give it one or more time ranges; a missing time or overlapping ranges are flagged before saving.
ImprovedAttendanceSmoother employee calendar
Changing month keeps the view you chose, and the calendar stays on screen while it loads. The year view now shows the whole year.
ImprovedAttendanceBusiness hours and holidays in Attendance
Business hours and public holidays are now managed in Attendance: several time ranges per day, a calendar per site if needed, and holidays that repeat every year. Hours already set up in your organization are carried over.
ImprovedSupportSupport deadlines follow your business hours
Ticket service deadlines follow the team's calendar, otherwise the ticket site's, otherwise the organization's, and take public holidays into account. Each ticket now carries a site, which agents can change.
ImprovedAttendanceMore precise work schedules
Schedule times are shown in 12-hour or 24-hour format according to the organization's choice, working days are ticked, and an end time before the start time means a night shift.
ImprovedPortalsGuided support requests in the portal
Your customers pick the subject of their request from icon cards, follow an example to describe it, attach files before sending, and get a confirmation with their request number.
ImprovedSupportTicket types offered to customers
Each ticket type can be offered to customers or kept for the team, with its own icon and example. Routing rules can now use the type the customer chose.
FixedListsMultiple-choice filters match exact values
Filtering a multiple-choice field on "promo" no longer returns records that only hold "promotion". A text field still matches part of a word.
FixedAttendanceOntario's statutory holidays
An organization located in Ontario received no statutory holiday. Its 2026 and 2027 holidays are now added to its calendar.
FixedAccountingNo more duplicates when rules are updated
A rules update no longer creates a second active tax rate next to the current one, a second chart of accounts when you switch models, or an account or jurisdiction you already had.
FixedPlatformLong operations run to completion
Long background processing is no longer cut short by the time limit meant for a single organization, and an error now shows its real cause.
FixedAutomationNo duplicates after a retry
When retried after an incident, an automation no longer sends the same document or email twice, re-creates the same record or emits the same event twice. Actions written as scripts still replay their writes.
FixedAutomation“Run now” reports its results
A scheduled task started by hand now records in the run log how many records it found, updated or failed on, just like a scheduled run. Failures no longer go unnoticed.
FixedHRCancelled leave returns to the right balance
Cancelling leave returns exactly the hours that were deducted, to the original type and employee, even if the leave was edited in between. Leave created as already approved now deducts from the balance.
FixedHRNegative balances always refused
Where your organization forbids negative balances, leave whose hours are calculated from its days is now refused too when it exceeds the balance.
FixedWorkflowsEntered values wait for approval
Values entered with a status change that needs approval, whether from a dialog, the Kanban board, inline editing or a form, are kept with the request and saved once it is approved.
FixedPlatformFilter on your added fields
A list can now be filtered on a field your organization added to a built-in module, just like the other fields it shows.
FixedAutomationRecord links stay valid
Automations and the status-change dialog now refuse to link a record to one that does not exist or was deleted. Updating a record whose link already points to a deleted record requires fixing that link in the same change.
FixedAccountingInput tax credits on supplier credit notes
A supplier credit note now reverses the input tax credit on the account of its own tax code, keeping each tax's balance accurate.
FixedInvoicingTax labels in invoice totals
A tax line without a rate, such as a reverse charge, now shows its label in invoice and credit note totals instead of its short code.
FixedDepartment and Comment forms
The form for creating a department in HR and the one for adding a comment in Support now show their fields and buttons instead of an empty window.
FixedPlatformCalendar in the user's language
The calendar on your screens now shows its buttons and text (Today, Week, Month, All day…) in the user's language instead of always in English.
FixedPlatformFilters and sorting on amounts
Filters and sorting on amounts now compare numbers: "balance below 0" only keeps negative balances, and $100 sorts after $20. This holds in lists as well as in automations.
FixedTrust accountingTrust account overdraft alert
The daily trust account alert now only reports accounts that are actually overdrawn, instead of every account.
FixedWorkshopMore accurate automation conditions
In workflows, conditions and scheduled actions, "today", "yesterday" and "tomorrow" follow your organization's day instead of changing in the evening, and "contains" also finds partial text.
FixedPlatformNo more duplicate unique values
Two simultaneous entries of the same value that must be unique no longer create a duplicate: the second one is rejected, whether it comes from a form, the API or an automation.
FixedWorkshopMore complete scheduled actions
A scheduled action on records no longer misses matching records in large tables, and its log says when it stops before the end.
FixedPlatformMore complete global search
Global search (Ctrl+K) now finds results across more record types, keeping only those you can view.
FixedWorkflowsApprovals decided only once
An approval request can no longer be decided twice by two approvers, or created twice by a double click. The second approver is told it has already been decided.
FixedWorkflowsApproval notifications in your language
Each recipient reads approval notifications in their own language, with record and status names as your organization wrote them ("Order: Confirmed → Paid").
FixedAutomationAutomations roll back on refusal
When a record is refused (workflow condition, missing field, an automation's refusal), whatever automations had already written is undone with it. A refused order no longer changes the customer's credit exposure.
FixedAutomationMore reliable automations
An automation triggered by a record can now attach the lines it creates to that record, and no longer overwrites the change you just saved.
FixedPlatformNotifications show up right away
The bell now shows a new notification as soon as it arrives, and a refused record no longer sends an alert for a notification that doesn't exist.
FixedAccountingCPP outside Quebec in its own accounts
The small business chart of accounts adds accounts for CPP and provincial tax outside Quebec, so an employee's CPP outside Quebec is no longer booked to QPP accounts.
FixedPlatformMissing texts restored
About ten messages in the app and on the website's Developers page now show their text instead of a technical key.
FixedPlatformConsole access for compliance officers
A compliance officer who isn't an administrator now sees the header icon that leads to the console and its Governance section.
FixedAttendanceOne day, one site's rules
A punch-clock day now always applies the same site's settings (rounding, breaks, overtime), whether it is calculated at punch time, when a missed clock-out is closed, or after an approved correction.
FixedAttendanceMissed clock-outs closed per site
A site can now automatically close missed clock-outs for its own days even when the organization leaves this setting off.
